StarTek Lays Off 69 Workers in Virginia

January 26, 2011

StarTek is laying off 69 workers at its facility in Lynchburg.

The Denver-based company said Monday in a news release that the affected workers have received 60-day notices. Chief Operating Officer Chad Carlson says the layoffs are due to a client's decision to move its line of business from the facility.

Carlson says the client's decision was based on a change in business strategy. About 219 people are employed at the Lynchburg facility.

StarTek handles customer service calls for clients.
