Statue of Thomas Jefferson Coming to Va. Capitol

February 11, 2011

Thomas Jefferson designed Virginia's Capitol but there's no statue of the third president at the building.

That will change next year.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that the Virginia Capitol Foundation has commissioned a full-length bronze statue of Jefferson. The statue will be placed in the new Capitol extension.

Richmond business leaders Tom Farrell, William Goodwin and Brent Halsey are paying for the work, which will be done by Ian Schwartz.
