Students Banned After Suspected Meth Lab Found at CNU

April 4, 2012

An investigation of a suspected meth lab has led to two students being banned from Christopher Newport University.

Media outlets report that the university announced the action Tuesday. University officials didn't identify the students.

Authorities evacuated the Wilson residence hall last week after police found a substance in one of the rooms. University officials say the substance is being analyzed by a lab in Norfolk.

Newport News police spokesman Lou Thurston says a drug-detecting dog alerted officers to the presence of drugs in a car in a parking lot next to the dormitory. Police found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.

No charges have been filed.
