The Homestead resort is planning $25 million in improvements that include a new water park.
The first phase of Alleghany Springs is expected to open by Memorial Day. It features a Jacuzzi, pool and children's area. A lazy river, water slides and cabanas are scheduled to open around July 4.
Vice president and general manager Peter Faraone tells WDBJ-TV (http://bit.ly/IJfhc9) that resort officials want to give families more things to enjoy.
Faraone says The Homestead's business from families and leisure guests has grown in the past three years.
Other projects include spa improvements, roof replacement, room renovations, a miniature golf course and new dining options.
