The guided-missile frigate USS Carr has left Virginia on its final deployment.
The ship is headed to the waters of Central and South America to combat criminal activity. The Navy says the ship and its crew will primarily be acting in a support role for civilian and partner nation law enforcement efforts.
The ship left Naval Station Norfolk on Friday. It is scheduled for a six-month deployment and after it returns home it will be decommissioned in March.
