UVa, VT Students to Rally Against Coal

November 17, 2010

Students at the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech are taking part in a nationwide call for clean energy.

Rallies are planned at both schools Wednesday. Students and supporters will sign paper pinwheels that will be put up on campus to demonstrate for cleaner, healthier energy choices.

The pinwheels later will be shipped to the Department of Energy.

At the University of Virginia, students will gather on the lawn in front of Alderman and Peabody Halls. At Virginia Tech, the rally will be held at the Graduate Life Center lawn.

The rallies are part of the Sierra Club's Beyond Coal Campaign, which calls for reducing the nation's dependence on coal.
