The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is hoping to make driving a little easier for holiday travelers.
VDOT is lifting most lane closures on major roads and interstates between December 24th through 26th, and December 31st through January 2nd.
VODT also reminds drivers to be safe, aware, and courteous on all roads.
“We want every traveler to have the opportunity to usher in 2013,” said VDOT Commissioner Greg Whirley. “Please keep safety at the forefront of any trip this holiday season.”
To report a road hazard or to get answers to your transportation question, call VDOT’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-FOR-ROAD (1-800-367-7623) any time.
Lane closures and crash reports available on 511Virginia also are communicated through VDOT’s Twitter accounts, targeted for different regions of Virginia and specific interstate corridors, such as Interstate 95 or Interstate 81.
