Crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are scheduled to start work next spring on widening a portion of Interstate 64.
The Commonwealth Transportation Board has approved a $33.2 million contract to widen over 4 miles of I-64 from four lanes to six lanes in Henrico and Goochland Counties.
The eastbound portion of the project goes from Pouncey Tract Road in Henrico to Ashland Road in Goochland. Widening on I-64 Westbound will go from Pouncey Tract Road to Rockville Road in Goochland.
Drivers should expect lane closures and delays during the construction project, which is expected to be completed around November 2015.
