Virginia State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Augusta County. The crash happened around 11 a.m. on Route 254.
A 1997 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling on Route 254 when it ran off the right side of the road. The car continued down a slight embankment and struck a barbed wire fence and post.
The driver, Ferraba O. Collier, 73, of Staunton, died at the scene. She was wearing a seat belt. Her body has been taken to the Medical Examiner’s office in Roanoke for examination and autopsy.
The crash remains under investigation at this time. Alcohol was not a factor.
