A jury has awarded $750,000 to a man who was injured while working on a pipe organ at Richmond's Byrd Theatre.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports a circuit court jury sided with David M. Barnett after a four-day trial.
Barnett sued the Byrd Theatre Foundation after the May 2009 accident left him blind in his right eye.
According to Barnett's complaint, he fell and hit his head after a wooden plank that he was standing on gave way while he was repairing and cleaning the organ.
Foundation attorney Lynne Jones Blain says the foundation maintains it was not at fault.
