(AP) - With Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" set for national release Friday, Virginia tourism officials are inviting fans of history and film to tour the locations where the epic movie was made.
"The Lincoln Movie Trail" was launched Thursday by the state tourism office. The self-guided tour and website leads visitors to dozens of places where the movie was filmed in Richmond and Petersburg.
The guide not only includes historic sites, such as the state Capitol and the White House of the Confederacy, but restaurants, coffee shops and businesses where "Lincoln" star Daniel Day-Lewis and other cast members spent their time.
Filmmaking has become a big business in Virginia, and the promotion is intended to draw from that growing revenue stream.
