Va. Delegates Approve Tighter Regulations on Abortion Clinics

January 28, 2011

The House has approved legislation that would require the licensing and regulation of abortion clinics by the state Board of Health.

The bill, sponsored by Republican Del. Richard Bell of Staunton, passed on a 66-33 vote without debate Wednesday.

It heads to the Democratic-controlled Senate where similar bills have perished for years before the Education and Health Committee.
