Authorities say a fisherman died after a small boat capsized on a lake at Sweet Briar College.
The Amherst County Sheriff's Office tells media outlets that the accident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday. Searchers found the victim's body around 2 a.m. Wednesday.
The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries identified the victim as 56-year-old Ronald Lee Ferguson of Lynchburg.
Investigators say Ferguson and another man were fishing when one stood up in the boat. The boat then capsized.
The other man tried unsuccessfully to find Ferguson after he went under water.
