Va. Football Coach Arrested for Inappropriate Texts

November 2, 2010

A high school football coach in Virginia has been charged with sending inappropriate text messages and e-mails to a 16-year-old girl.

A spokesman for Prince William County Police says William Hayes Dignan was charged Friday with taking indecent liberties with a minor and use of a communication device to facilitate an offense with a minor.

A school official says Dignan has been employed as a social studies teacher and assistant varsity football coach at Stonewall Jackson High School for three years. Officials learned about the messages and contacted police.
