Federal prosecutors say a 28-year-old Portsmouth man is set to spend 36 years in prison for his role in the Bounty Hunter Bloods gang.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in the Eastern District of Virginia says Eric Drandell Ward was sentenced Tuesday. Ward had pleaded guilty to racketeering charges and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence in July.

According to court documents, Ward was midlevel leader of the Bounty Hunter Bloods/Nine Tech Gangster street gang that operated in various neighborhoods in Portsmouth, Suffolk and Chesapeake.
