Little League Evicted by Navy Finds New Field

December 13, 2010

A Norfolk baseball league that was evicted from Navy property will have a new home behind an elementary school next year.

Norfolk recreation director Darrell Crittendon says the city will issue a permit to allow Ocean View Little League to use the Ocean View Elementary School site from February to November 2011.

League President Tony Snyder told The Virginian-Pilot that discussions are under way to secure the league a permanent place to play. This year it has shared land occupied by another league, playing games miles away from where most of the team members live.

Another group, Fleet Park Little League, also has been told its time playing at Norfolk Naval Station will be up after 2011 because its fields are in a flight path.
