Va. Man Charged with Murder in Teen's Shooting Death

January 31, 2011

Authorities say a 17-year-old boy has been killed in a shootout at his home.

Media outlets reported the youth died Saturday morning from gunshot wounds to the head and chest. The Bluefield Police Department declined to release the victim's name Sunday.

Police say two men and another 17-year-old kicked in the door of the victim's home and exchanged gunfire with him. All three are in custody.

Police say 21-year-old Jasmen Montgomery, of Pulaski, Va., was charged with murder. Charges are pending against Brandon Clack, who police say was being treated in a Charleston hospital for non-life-threatening wounds. The juvenile arrested in the case was taken to the Sam Perdue Juvenile Center in Princeton.

It was unclear whether any of the three have lawyers.
