A lawmaker from the Valley is proposing that the state be able to castrate men who have been convicted of violent sexual offenses.
That proposal is being brought by Republican Senator Emmett Hanger, from Mount Solon.
The proposal says offenders could be given the option of being castrated and released, instead of being locked in medical treatment facilities indefinitely.
It says castration may decrease the cost of caring for the offender, while still protecting the safety of the public.
