Va. Town Revisiting Decision to Evict Mayor

October 19, 2010

Colonial Beach's Town Council is revisiting its decision to boot the mayor out of his office in Town Hall.

Resolutions passed by the council in April 2009 accused Mayor Frederick C. Rummage of interfering with and obstructing the town's operations. He was evicted from Town Hall and prohibited from making uninvited visits to employees' private offices there.

"The Free Lance-Star" reports that the council recently decided to take another look at Rummage's eviction from Town Hall. The issue was sent to the council's budget committee for a recommendation. The committee is scheduled to meet October 28.

Rummage told the newspaper that his inability to discuss town business with people at Town Hall is embarrassing.
