Virginia Schools Set to Attend Research Conference

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Mark Warner is bringing educational leaders from across Virginia to the nation's capital for a conference aimed at promoting research in science, engineering and medicine.

Warner's office says in a news release that participants in Friday's conference at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C., include representatives from Virginia Tech, the University of Virginia, George Mason University and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Also in attendance will be representatives of the private sector, government agencies and health care organizations.

The conference's keynote speaker is nanoscience expert Mildred Dresselhaus of Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
