Virginia landed a larger number of corporate facilities and expansions in 2011.
Gov. Bob McDonnell's office on Monday said the state had 273 new projects and expansions in 2011. That's a 44 percent increase from the 190 new projects and expansions the year before.
McDonnell says that as companies rebound from a difficult economy, business are locating and expanding in business-friendly states like Virginia. McDonnell says his administration continues to focus on helping the private sector expand jobs and opportunity for residents.
Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling added that in the past two years Virginia has closed 754 economic development deals and created 67,500 net new jobs.
