The Virginia Zoo is introducing its new tiny blue duiker antelope, Todd.
The Norfolk zoo says Todd was born last Saturday and weighs slightly more than 1 pound and is only a bit larger than a guinea pig. Todd is known to hide among the bamboo of the habitat he shares with his mother and father, Peanut and Cinco.
Blue duikers are indigenous to Central and South Africa. The nocturnal animals can weigh nearly 12 pounds and stand slightly less than 16 inches tall. "Duiker" is Dutch for "diver." When threatened, the animals use their long hind legs and short forelegs to dive into underbrush.
