The Orange County Hornets have not made the playoffs since 2000, but feel they are ready to make a post-season run this year.
The most glaring difference for the Hornets this year is the absence of quarterback Quintin Hunter, who is now playing for Al Groh at UVA. The Hornets say they will miss Hunter's presence on the field and in the locker room, but they feel they have several talented players who can help fill his shoes. They also feel a strong sense of team chemistry will help carry them this year.
The Hornets say they are extra motivated this season after just barely missing out on the playoffs in 2008. Orange has a difficult schedule to open the season though, as three of its first four opponents made the state semifinals last season.
The Hornets kick off their 2009 schedule at Chancellor Friday September 4th.
