On Tuesday, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close a bridge on Mutton Hollow Road (Route 634) in Greene County for repairs.
The bridge, built in 1998, is located just north of the intersection of Matties Run Road (Route 635) and spans Swift Run. Inspectors recently found deterioration in the bridge seat, on which the deck rests.
VDOT will close the bridge at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Crews will lift off the bridge deck in order to access and re-cast the concrete seat, then put the deck back into place before reopening the roadway at close of business on September 23.
Motorists should be alert for detour signs in the vicinity of the work.
