Six years ago, Travis Tucker captivated fans on the state of American Idol. He did not win, but the University of Virginia graduate didn't let the loss get him down.

Now he is singing a different tune with a clear message. The group Partners for Safe Teen Drivers recently launched a new music video entitled "It Can Wait". The goal is to get teens to put down their phones before they pick up their keys.

"I've never done anything that has had this kind of substance that could literally save a life," said Tucker.

The video will be shown to students across the state in an effort to curb the dangerous habit.

"I just want to send the reminder now, before you have to look back and wish you could have changed things," said Tucker.

He may not be singing to the judges on American Idol, but the Virginia teacher says his audience is just as important.

"I've had a couple of kids come up and sing me the song, and whether or not they are joking around, they are still singing it and processing it," said Tucker.

Processing the tune and reciting three little words that carry one big message. It Can Wait.

Next week is National Teen Driver Safety Week and as part of the initiative, 40 billboards will be put up in the state of Virginia and high schools will receive posters, all carrying the message: It Can Wait.
