The Louisa County Board of Supervisors and the Louisa County School Board have jointly approved a geotechnical engineering study of the Thomas Jefferson Elementary School property.

"This is another step in our ongoing recovery process," said Greg Strickland, School Board Chairman. "We hope to get the final approval on the Thomas Jefferson building from FEMA soon, and having this study complete would certainly expedite the process of getting our children back in a permanent structure."

All of the students from Thomas Jefferson Elementary are currently using temporary classrooms located on the Trevilians Elementary School site and share facilities, such as the gym and cafeteria.

"The Board of Supervisors and the School Board will continue to work together in an effort to complete our recovery process and make our community whole," said County Board Chairman Willie Harper.

The scope of the geotechnical study will include a preliminary analysis of potential locations for a replacement building, soil borings, a study of groundwater elevations, and a boundary survey of the existing TJES property.
