Virginia forward Elly Buckley has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week after leading the Cavaliers to a 4-3 win over eighth-ranked Duke last Friday. Buckley scored three of the Cavaliers’ goals in the 4-3 victory.
In addition to her hat trick, Buckley made a defensive save to up her ACC-leading total for the season to five. With the three goals, Buckley moved into third place on Virginia’s career points list with 179. Buckley has 46 points this season on 20 goals and six assists, and leads the ACC in both points and goals.
The ACC Player of the Week accolade is the second of the season for Buckley, who was also honored on Sept. 3.
