Virginia senior goalkeeper Liz Colgan was named to the 2014 All-ACC Women's Lacrosse First Team Wednesday in a vote by the league's eight head coaches. Juniors Courtney Swan and Morgan Stephens were named to the second team.
Colgan, who earned her first career All-ACC accolade, is ranked sixth in the nation and leads the ACC in saves per game, averaging 10.0 per contest. Colgan has made 160 saves so far this season.
Swan, an attacker, earned All-ACC recognition for the second-straight season. Swan, who leads the Cavaliers with 48 goals, ranks fourth the ACC and 18th in the nation, averaging 3.00 goals per game.
Stephens, who has moved from midfield to being a true defender for the Cavaliers, is eighth in the ACC in caused turnovers, averaging 1.0 per game. Stephens has also won 16 draw controls and picked up 24 ground balls.
The No. 14 Virginia women's lacrosse team opens up the 2014 ACC Women's Lacrosse Championship with a quarterfinal match-up against No. 7 Duke Thursday at 1 p.m. at Boston College's Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
