Cavalier Women Drop Close Match with Duke

No. 7 Duke edged Virginia, 4-3, in ACC women’s tennis action Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers fall to 8-7 overall and 3-1 in the ACC.

The Cavaliers got off to a good start by winning the doubles point.

Junior Caryssa Peretz then gave the Cavaliers a 2-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6.

Duke then won three consecutive matches to take a 3-2 lead. Julia Elbaba tied the score at 3-3 with a hard-fought win at No. 2 but Duke clinched the win at No. 1.

Virginia plays No. 1 North Carolina and North Carolina Central tomorrow in Chapel Hill.
