Cavalier Women's Tennis Beats Up Syracuse

No. 3 Virginia defeated Syracuse 6-1 in ACC women's tennis action Saturday. The Cavaliers improved to 8-2, 3-0 ACC with their third straight win.

Virginia won the doubles point and received singles wins from Maci Epstein, Stephanie Nauta, Julia Elbaba, Danielle Collins and Marie Faure.

The Cavaliers collected their second consecutive doubles sweep. Nauta and Epstein won 8-2 at No. 3 and UVa clinched the point when Collins and Li Xi won 8-3 at No. 2. No. 7 Elbaba and Rachel Pierson added an 8-6 win at No. 1.

Epstein made it 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles. No. 42 Nauta made it 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4. No. 4 Elbaba clinched the Virginia win for the third straight match, posting a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1.

No. 58 Collins added a 6-2, 3-6, 10-5 win at No. 2 and Faure posted a 6-1, 6-7, 10-5 win at No. 6.

The Cavaliers return home to host No. 11 North Carolina and Maryland on March 8-9 at Snyder Tennis Center.
