Aaliyah Whiteside's three-point play with 13 seconds left was the difference, as Georgia Tech ended Virginia's season with a 77-76 win at the ACC Women's Basketball Tournament in Greensboro.
The Cavaliers lost despite a career-high 27 points, and 10 rebounds from junior forward Sarah Imovbioh. Seniors Kelsey Wolfe (16 points) and Ataira Franklin (15 points) each finished with double figures in their final college game.
With the loss, UVa finishes the season at 14-17.
Virginia trailed 38-34 at halftime, but Georgia Tech looked poised to pull away after extending that lead to 14 points midway through the second half. The Cavaliers rallied with a 21-7 run to tie the game at 70-70 with 3:31 to play, then tied it again at 74-74 with :42 left.
Kaela Davis finished with a game-high 28 points to lead the Yellow Jackets, who advance to face two-seed Duke on Friday. Tyaunna Marshall added 26 points and 10 rebounds.
