With two swings of the bat, NC State sophomore Renada Davis wiped out any hope of a Virginia comeback in Thursday's ACC softball quarterfinals.
Virginia, the No. 7 seed in the tournament, was only trailing 1-0 in the fifth inning, until Davis stepped up with a runner on and drilled her 25th homer of the season to deep left field. Davis struck again with a three-run shot in the sixth, giving the No. 2 seed Wolfpack a 7-0 win.
The loss ends Virginia's season at 21-28.
With 26 homers, Davis is now tied with Longwood's Megan Baltzell for most in the country this season. It's also the second-highest single season total in ACC history.
