The Virginia defense will be without three starters this week, as the Cavaliers try to stop Georgia Tech's triple-option offense.
Senior defensive tackle Brent Urban will miss his second straight game with a lower body injury, according to the injury report released by UVa on Thursday. And the secondary will be without junior corner Demetrious Nicholson for the third straight week (lower body), and sophomore corner Maurice Canady (medical issue) for the first time this year.
When healthy, those three players have started a combined 18 games for the Cavaliers this season.
UVa will also be thinner at the wide receiver position, with junior E.J. Scott out (medical issue) and redshirt freshman Kyle Dockins doubtful (trunk). Dockins has started the last two games for the Cavaliers, catching two passes for 16 yards. Scott also has a pair of catches for 24 yards on the season.
Junior tight end Jake McGee, who leads the team with 31 catches and two touchdown receptions, is listed as questionable with a lower body injury, as is junior offensive lineman Conner Davis. Davis rejoined the starters on the line two weeks ago after missing three games.
Junior linebacker Daquan Romero, who is tied for second on the team with 52 tackles, is listed as probable with an upper body injury.
Reserve offensive lineman Jon Pond is listed as out, while placekicker Ian Frye is questionable. Frye has missed the last three games for UVa, with punter Alec Vozenilek assuming placekicking duties.
