Virginia junior tight end Jake McGee has been named to the John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List. The award is given annually to the best tight end in college football.
McGee was an All-ACC honorbale mention in 2012 with 28 catches for 374 yards and five touchdowns. The five touchdowns were the fifth-most all-time by a UVa tight end in a season.
McGee is one of six ACC players on the preseason watch list. He joins Eric Ebron of North Carolina, Florida State's Nick O’Leary, Beckett Wales of Syracuse, Clive Walford from Miami, and NC State's Asa Watson on the list.
The last Cavalier to win the Mackey Award is current Steelers tight end Heath Miller, who won the award in 2004.
