Monday's release of the post-spring depth chart for the Virginia football team did nothing to clear up the lingering question at the quarterback.
The Cavaliers released the latest depth chart Monday afternoon. It includes sophomore David Watford or freshman Greyson Lambert or junior Phillip Sims as the No. 1 quarterback.
The trio has a combined four career college starts -- all last season by Sims, who split time with the since-transferred Michael Rocco. Watford -- who entered the spring atop the depth chart at quarterback -- and Lambert both redshirted last fall.
Watford appeared in 10 games as a true freshman in 2011, while Sims played in all 12 games last year. Lambert has yet to appear in a college game.
The three quarterbacks rotated series between both teams during the program's spring game earlier this month. Lambert threw a pair of touchdown passes while Watford ran for a score.
The other most noteworthy item on the latest depth chart was the ascension of former walk-on Jackson Matteo as the Cavaliers' No. 1 center. Matteo redshirted last season as a true freshman.
He supplants rising senior Luke Bowanko at center, with Bowanko moving to left guard, where he is atop the position. Bowanko has started all 25 games for the Cavaliers the past two seasons -- 13 at right guard in 2011, and 12 at center last year.
Head coach Mike London also announced during a Monday teleconference that offensive lineman Kelby Johnson, tight end Jeremiah Mathis, and defensive lineman Courtnye Wynn were no longer part of the team.
