No. 27 Virginia defeated No. 1 North Carolina, 4-3, in ACC women’s tennis action Saturday afternoon. The win was Virginia’s first against a top-ranked opponent in program history.
Virginia also defeated North Carolina Central, 6-0, improving to 10-7 overall and 4-1 in the ACC after the two-match sweep.
The Cavaliers claimed the doubles point against North Carolina and received singles wins from junior Caryssa Peretz and Julia Elbaba, and the match-clinching win from co-captain Erin Vierra.
The Cavaliers host Wake Forest on Saturday, April 6 at Snyder Tennis Center. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
