Virginia Softball Swept by Syracuse

The Virginia softball team dropped the final game of a three-game series to Syracuse, 14-3, Sunday afternoon at The Park. The Cavaliers fell to 3-21 overall and 1-10 in the ACC.

In the bottom of the second, freshman Iyana Hughes tripled to score fellow freshman Lindsay Mayer and came around to score on a double by junior Megan Harris.

The Cavaliers scored another run in the sixth after freshman Madison Labshere doubled to lead off the frame and came home on a grounder by Mayer.

Sophomore pitcher Aimee Chapdelaine pitched the complete game, striking out four in the loss.

Up next, the Cavaliers host two mid-week doubleheaders against Maryland (March 19) and Fordham (March 20). Both doubleheaders are scheduled for 4 p.m. starts.
