After opening the season with a record-setting performance at the 2011 Ragged Mountain Cup, the Albemarle boys' cross country team added to it, a title at their own Albemarle Invitational Saturday at Panorama Farms.
The Patriots scored 124 points and placed four runners in the top 26 finishers. They were led by senior Adam Visokay who took second overall. Stafford finished second in the 50-team race, followed by Oakton in third.
Last week, Albemarle placed seventh as a team at the Great American Cross Country Festival in Cary, N.C., deemed the top ranked team in the state of Virginia.
On the girls side Saturday, Osbourn Park claimed the team award, while Millbrook's Crystal Nelson finished with the top individual time. The host Albemarle girls finished in 11th, followed by fellow local competitors Fluvanna County in 12th, Western Albemarle in 14th, and Monticello in 21st.
