The Monticello girls came back from an early seven-point deficit to down Western Albemarle, 46-38, and claim sole possession of second place in the Jefferson District.

The Warriors led 10-6 after the first quarter but the Mustangs held Western to just three points in the second and led 18-13 at the half.

The two teams then traded buckets in the third but Western still trailed by five entering the fourth.

The Mustangs led by as many as 10 in the fourth but Western got to within six with little over three minutes left in the game. Monticello would hit free throws down the stretch, however, to close out the win.
