The Jefferson District will be well represented at next week's AA State Golf Tournament. Monticello and Western Albemarle are both making the trip after finishing first and second at the Region Two Tournament.
The Mustangs won the Region title by six strokes. Evan Childress had the low round of the day with a 71 and fellow senior Kevin Archer followed with a 72.
"It's the first time in a long time, the first time since I've been here that the whole team's gone to states and it's an exciting day for us," Archer said.
"I'm not too concerned but I have confidence in our team that we'll be able to compete," Childress added.
Monticello coach Pam Bradley said, "We're excited about going but we want to compete and we think we have a golden opportunity for us to put up some good scores. We got to play there earlier in the season and felt pretty good about that so I think they're going in with a lot of confidence."
The two-day tournament starts Monday at the Shenandoah Valley Golf Club in Front Royal.
