The undefeated Buckingham Knights looked to stay perfect on the season when they hosted the Manassas Park Cougars Friday night.
And it would not take the Knights long to crack the scoreboard. On their opening drive, Buckingham's Maurice Taylor took the inside handoff, broke one tackle, and sprinted untouched into the endzone. This would become a theme in the first half for Buckingham.
The Knights forced a punt on the next possession, and punting would be a problem for the Cougars, as the high snap resulted in a safety, 9-0 Buckingham leads.
After another unsuccessful possession for the Cougars, Buckingham would take over a give Manassas Park a heavy dosage of Maurice Taylor. Taylor dragged a defender into the endznoe for his second touchdown of the first half, this one of the shorter 5-yard variety, 16-0 Buckingham.
Nearing the end of the second quarter, mamma it's that man again; Maurice Taylor fielded the Cougar punt and took it 40 yards to the house for his second punt return touchdown of the half. That's four first half touchdowns for Taylor for everyone keeping track at home (2 rushing, 2 punt returns), and the Knights were comfortably up 30-0 at the half.
Buckingham would keep the Cougars off the scoreboard in the second half to shut out Manassas Park 51-0. The Knights head into their bye week with a perfect 6-0 record.
