Rickquan Jones is a captain and two-year starter for the Charlottesville boys' basketball team, a member of the CHS band and track and field team.
His sportsmanship, positive attitude, and work ethic are just a few qualities his coaches use to describe the senior athlete.
"He's a great team member," said head basketball coach Mitch Minor. "He's not only a good basketball player but he's also a wonderful student. He's very strong academically, he's a very polite young man and well-liked in the school."
Rickquan is enrolled in all AP and honors courses at Charlottesville and carries a 3.6 GPA. He's applied to schools like Virginia, UNC, West Virginia, Wake Forest, and Davidson with plans to enroll in a sports medicine program.
Rickquan is a member of the CHS band and track and field teams, but says basketball is his favorite pastime.
"I guess it's just the atmosphere of it," he said of a typical Friday night game. "I will say I'm a very emotional player, I run off adrenaline and when the crowd gets into it, that's just the best part of the game."
In his final basketball season with the Knights, Coach Minor said besides Rickquan's leadership, he'll miss his senior captain's attitude the most.
"He has a wonderful attitude. He's well-mannered and his parents ought to be really really proud of him, because he's just a wonderful kid and I wish I had more like him."
