Fluvanna's Dashon Tibbs is getting a chance to play college football where he hoped to wind up all along.
Fluvanna coach Jason Barnett said Friday that Tibbs had committed to play at Richmond next season. Tibbs, the Flucos' quarterback last season, will play wide receiver for the Spiders, Barnett said.
Tibbs threw for 943 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior last fall, his first at Fluvanna after transferring from Albemarle. Tibbs also ran for 120 yards and four scores. He was honored in November as a CBS19 Student Athlete of the Week.
According to Barnett, Richmond had been Tibbs' top school throughout the recruiting process. Barnett said Christopher Newport had also shown interest in Tibbs as a wide receiver, while a few other Division III football programs recruited him as a quarterback.
