New head coach Mark Sanford has high hopes for his William Monroe Dragons after a winless 2008. The Dragons headed over the mountain to face Spotswood Friday night.
However, Sanford and his new team will have to wait for that first victory, as Spotswood dominated the Dragons 49-14.
In their next game, the Trailblazers face the Millbrook Pioneers in a non-league bout, on Friday, September 11. Spotswood will attempt to advance on its 1-0 season record. The Pioneers enter the bout with a 1-1 record after their 31-6 non-league loss to Park View.
The Dragons (0-1) will now prepare for their bout against Madison County. The Mountaineers enter the non-league bout with a 1-0 record. In their last bout, Madison County walloped Fluvanna County, 26-23, in a non-league bout
