For the Charlottesville High School Black Knights, 2010 means 0 and 10.

"We were like... 'get this out of here, we never want to see this again,'" said sophomore RB/DB Chris Thurston.

This season, Eric Sherry takes over as head coach of the Black Knights. This is Sherry's first ever head coaching job, and he hopes to turn around the program at CHS.

"It's an honor to me," said Sherry. "Charlottesville has a lot of tradition to it... and the history of Charlottesville's DNA says that this football team is going to be successful."

Sherry was a member of the U.S. Air Force for six years, and the Black Knights say his disciplined and organized style will serve them well in 2011.

"He's getting stuff in our head now so we'll be prepared later," said junior QB/DB Rashard Davis.

"(With) all branches of the service, there's going to be a commitment to being disciplined and doing your job," said Sherry. "The same can be said for high school football."

The Black Knights will certainly need that discipline on offense. This year, they make the switch to the triple option.

"With that offense you can actually do more with maybe less experienced kids, and what some would say maybe less talented kids, as long as they're mentally focused to understand what their roles are," said Sherry.

Sherry and the Black Knights will get to test out their new offense August 26th when they open up the regular season at E.C. Glass.
