New Attitude, More Experience Define '09 Black Knights

August 18, 2009

The 2009 Charlottesville football team is determined to improve on its 1-9 finish from last season.

This year's team comes in with more experience and a better attitude. Players say that everyone is excited to come to practice every day and push each other to get better.

Gone is four-year starting quarterback Kevin Leatherwood. This year the Black Knights will turn to someone they hope will be a four-year starter as well: freshman Benj Wilhelm.

This will be Chris Fraser's second year as head coach at CHS. Both he and his players say they feel a lot more comfortable now that they've had a year to get to know each other. They have also had a solid year of lifting in the weight room, which Fraser says will help his team a lot this upcoming season.

The Black Knights open up the 2009 season at R.E. Lee on September 4th.
