Buckingham Beats Appomattox at Home, 20-13

August 31, 2009

The Buckingham Co. Knights looked to take down Appomattox in their home opener Friday night.

The Knights quickly capitalized on an Appomattox fumble on the opening kickoff of the game. A few plays after the fumble, Maruice Taylor got the carry and powered in for a touchdown. Buckingham 7, Appomattox 0. The Knights added a 30-yard field goal to take a 10-0 lead at the half.

Appomattox would mount a comeback early in the third quarter. After a beautiful play action fake, Appomattox quarterback Kenny Scott sprinted into the endzone untouched to bring the Raiders within three, 10-7.

However, Buckingham would respond on the next possession. Running back Ja'rodd Wade broke off a long run into Raider territory, which would lead to another Buckingham field goal.

And the Knights held on to win at home by a score of 20-13.
