Fluvanna (1-1) got their season started off right last week, cruising to a 28-6 win over Prince Edward. Friday, the Flucos continued their opening road trip, as they traveled to Madison (1-0) to face a Mountaineers team that fell just short of the state playoffs last season.
Defense was the story in Friday night's game. Only one crooked number was put on the scoreboard in the first half, as a second quarter field goal put Madison up 3-0.
The second half would feature more great defense, turnovers and field goals. After a T.J. Dudley run got the Flucos into Mountaineer territory, Fluvanna quarterback Ryan Foster got his team into the redzone with a nice QB-keeper. The Flucos would punch it in a few plays later to go up 6-3.
Madison sent the game into overtime with a fourth quarter field goal, tying the game at 6-6.
The two teams would trade scores in the first two overtime periods, leaving the game tied at 20 heading into the third overtime frame. Madison would pull it out in the third overtime, winning 26-20.
