Our game of the week takes us to Charlottesville High School, where the Black Knights faced Albemarle in a cross-town rivalry. Charlottesville took a 21-0 lead at the half and went on to win its first game of the season by a final of 28-13. Albemarle is now 0-3 on the season and will look for its first win next week against North Stafford.
Orange took on defending state champion James Monroe but failed to get on the board against the Yellow Jackets. JM won by a final of 14-0.
Monticello played host to Powhatan looking for some revenge. Powhatan handed Monticello its only regular season loss of 2008. But it would be Powhatan's night, as they took this one 56-6.
It was also a tough night for fellow Jefferson District member Louisa. The Lions were also held scoreless tonight, falling to Courtland by a count of 26-0.
Buckingham continued its good start to 2009. The Knights took down Fluvanna 28-10 to improve to 4-0 on the season. Fluvanna falls to 1-2.
Madison also had an impressive performance to stay perfect on the year. Logan Terrell picked up 149 total yards and scored two touchdowns as the Mountaineers rolled past Nelson 35-0 to move to 3-0.
William Monroe was unable to pick up its first win of the season. The Dragons fell to Eastern View 38-7.
FUMA looks to be the team to beat in the private school circuit this season. The Blue Devils posted their third consecutive shutout of 2009, beating Hargrave Military Academy 40-0. FUMA has now outscored its opponents 109-0 through three games.
Blue Ridge did not fare as well on its home field. The Barons fell to Liberty Christian Academy 53-15.
