Albemarle looked to secure its first win of the season Friday night when they played host to district rival Colonial Forge. However, the Patriots did not get off to a good start.

Already up 7-0, Colonial Forge quarterback Blake Froanapfel connected with receiver Eric Froanapfel for an easy 48-yard touchdown; they share a last name, why not share a touchdown as well? That score put Albemarle in the hole 14-0.

After an Eagle interception of Albemarle quarterback Joey Varaksa put Colonial Forge deep in Patriot territory, Trey Redd took the handoff and went untouched into the endzone for another Eagles touchdown. 21-0 Colonial Forge.

After Albemarle failed to convert on a fourth-and-goal attempt, Colonial Forge took over and put an exclamation point on the first half. Blake Froanapfel found Aquil Tweedy in the flats and he would rumble all the way to the endzone for yet another Eagles touchdown, 28-0 Colonial Forge.

Despite allowing some second half touchdowns to the Patriots, Colonial Forge would cruise to an easy 56-21 victory over Albemarle. The still winless Patriots (0-5) will travel to Riverbend next week, looking to get their first win of the season.
